Again it rains....

So, its been a while. much has happened. last weekend was pretty hellish. Friday night we had to take L to the ER, it turned out she had an ear infection and cut a new tooth. From all the rain R's parents basement flooded (its more their family room/kids playroom) so they had to rip up the carpet. R called me at like 4am Saturday, his grandmother passed away. I come home from work on Tuesday and R has a fever of 101.5 and he is ache and not moving much. I put him to bed super early...and end up falling asleep on the couch. I woke up around 2 or so and could barely move my joints hurt so bad ( you know like the prelude to a bad cold or flu) and I had the scratchy throat thing going on. Wednesday he wakes up feeling good, lucky for him since its the day of the funeral. Seems these days for the older folks they do everything in one day. Viewing/service/cemetery. So our day starts at 9am (we had to be at the funeral home) Dayquil is my best friend at this point and not doing a good job but making it a little easier to stand and be social. By the time we got home after the luncheon it was like 3 we all took naps. K woke up first around 5:30 or so. I call my mom searching for chicken soup and a little TLC. (this is where living less then 7 miles from mommy is a wonderful thing).
By the time she got here I was miserable. She makes some chicken soup in the crock pot for the next day for me. and gives the girls bathes. while R annoys me with questions about what to pack for his trip to florida the following morning....
His ride comes at 4:30 (a buddy that is going with him) R doesn't unlock the door dog barks wakes me up....not happy about that but I take another dose of nyquil and am off to lala land. R's mom takes the girls for the day (he was suppose to be coming off nights, so it was her day to watch them) I finally get in touch with my Dr and get in to see him at 3pm. He take a look in my mouth and says "its very infected in there Rebecca" with a stern look. gee thanks doc ya think?!? so off I go with a 'script for omnicef. tonsillitis....who the hell gets tonsillitis these days? usually its strep. no no I one up that and get tonsillitis...and it seems once you have gotten it you are more likely to get it again. Jack pot!
Any way i have to cancel my trip to Boston to flowergirl dress shop and visit T (thankfully he is doing wonderfully. surgery was a success so far. ) I am annoyed that I have to cancel but don't want to drive that far alone and sick...or risk exposing any of our other friends to something that could make T sick. So that gets postponed.
R's mom again takes the girls Friday for most of the day allowing me to rest. it was so cold I had to put the heat on....and I still couldn't get warm. it was crazy. I haven't been that sick in a long time.
Saturday was a shitty day out...it rained and was cold. so we stayed in and pretty much watched movies all day...bad mommy. Sunday was cool and sunny. So off to the orchard we went. The girls went on pony rides, pet some animals....rode the little tractors and picked pumpkins. We brought home some yummy apples, cider and cider donuts. Its was a good day. I finally am feeling normal and its not like I have a softball stuck in my throat anymore.
Today was alright, I have so much work to catch up on its ridiculous. I dread this year workwise. R extended his trip another day to experience hurricane Wilma first hand (we have been through 2 so far...why not get the third out of the system, his logic not mine). So he should be taking off about now (9:47pm....it was delayed from 8:15pm) I will definitely be alseep when he gets home. oh yeah its raining again and they have flood warnings in effect.

Oh well...I have rambled way too long I believe. So I am going to watch the food network for a bit then go to bed. Night ya'll

its been a couple days

I took a "sick" day today.....Lex had a fever last night and was a miserable clingy mess. Today she was a little less miserable still had a fever....took 2 naps and was barely eating. but she did drink some juice and milk so that is good. Hopefully she will be happier tomorrow if she still has the fever we will be off to the doctor. I really hope its only teethin, but apparently there is a ton of crap going around.
Benners is at a volleyball game with R tonight. Not thrilled about it cause its kind of late and crappy (still) out. She cracks me up. Today she faught me on taking a nap..... NOOOOOOOO MOMMY I NO TAKE NAP....I dont wanna take nap. 2 minutes later she was out cold. When she woke up the first thing she said to me was I dont want to take nap. I was like honey you just woke up.....too funny.
An update on T. He has been scheduled for his surgery on October 19th. T s MRI shows a pretty involved malformation on the right side, and the left side looks smaller than the right side, but doesn't appear to have any malformations or problems that would make them think that the seizures are highly active or likely to occur on the left side. The other tests show the right side is the are that is malformed, and the left side is looking good. The only showing the left side is involved is his EEGs.
The reasoning behind the hemispherectomy is to remove the side that has the malformation. When ever he has a seizure, the right side is fully involved. When they see activity on the left side, it immediately jumps to the right side and activates it. So their hope is that if they remove the active side (being the right side) that they will eliminate some (hopefully all or most) or his seizures, and also reduce the severity of them. If after surgery he still has seizures coming from the left side, they are hoping that they are small enough that meds can control them. They are also hoping that if we can cut his seizures down in quantity and severity that he will have more of a chance of living a somewhat normal life.

K and I are going up to Boston next weekend to do some flower girl dress shopping for the wedding we are both in, in April. Lex will be staying with the inlaws. R will be down in Florida with a buddy to golf. So hopefully we will be able to go up to the hospital to see them.

so k just pulled the MOMMMMMMMMMMMMY go way! so she could finish pooping in her diaper rather then on the potty. fighting an losing battle here. she was doing so well and now hates it. nothing seems to be working....maybe thanksgiving weekend will become potty training boot camp. since i have 4 days off.
I am being attacked by Elmo balloons. We went to see Sesame Street Live last night...it was ok. glad we didnt pay for the tickets (R's uncle works at the arena and got them for us.) it held their attention for a little bit but once they broke for intermissions it was all over. But Friendly's for ice cream afterwards was a big hit. I think L was wearing more then she ate..... and K has suddenly developed a dislike for chocolate chips....she ordered the monster mash which is made with mint chocolate chip ice cream...... yes she "spit" out every chip. these kids kill me......
Today we have a birthday party for our friends son. should be fun, we dont get to see them as often as we should. Tomorrow we are going to meet a friends new puppy that she got yesterday....cannot wait! She got her first pup about 2 months ago....and he is adorable. makes me consider getting another dog. Adi needs a playmate...athough the girls do play on her since she is almost a mini pony.
oh well....stinky nasty diaper is calling my name........hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

NO updates yet on T hopefully I will get an email tonight or tomorrow. I so wish they hear good news soon.

So upsetting.....

a good friends son is in the hospital this week for what is going to make this a very long month for them. They are doing : Phase 1 will be the entire week of Oct 3rd. Mon is the MRI and the EEG gets put on. Tues is the BEAM test, Wed is the PET test, and Thursday and Friday are SPECT tests. He will be sedated for all tests except for the one on Tuesday. "Following the phase 1 T's nuerologist and the neurosurgeon will analyze the data and determine where the grids and strips need to be put for phase 2 - if they are used at all. The only way T won't have the grids and strips is if they deem he needs a complete hemispherectomy. So we hope that grids and strips are needed in hopes to just remove a part of the right side, not the whole thing.
Phase 2 is schdeuled for Oct 19th at 8:30am. The surgery is 6-7 hours long. He will be in the ICU that night, and hopefully in a room on 9 North that next day. They go in and put on the grids and strips on the inside of the brain and will monitor T for a week. They will also send signals to the brain to determine what that part is responsible for, to give us an idea of things he may lose after the surgery. He will remain in the hospital for a week - for obvious reasons - can't go home with wires coming out of his head)
Phase 3 will be Oct 26th. That surgery is at 8:30am, and is 7-8 hours long. He will be in the ICU that night, and hopefully in a room on 9 North that next day. If they only remove part of the brain, T could go home as early as 5 days post surgery. That is the best case scenario. If they do a hemispherectomy he may have to go to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hosptial for 4-6 weeks for intense therapy. So our hospital stay could mean we get home for Halloween or we are in there until Christmas time."

Her mini update to me today said that The test results aren't coming back in their favor ... it is showing that the seizures are starting on both sides of the brain, which means surgery may not be an option - and if they did do the surgery, the chance of him being seizure free is slim.

They will know more on Friday and the actual details from the entire neuro team next Wed or Thurs - hopefully that past day's tests show more right side stuff, and no left side activity.

This is so upsetting cause they had such a hard time getting pregnant (and were successful with IVF) and he has been having seizures since he was 2 months old. He is 6 weeks younger then Lexi! which makes it that much harder I think. I cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through. And can only offer my prayers and support to them....which being 5 hours away is difficult. thank god for technology! So for any of you reading this...please say some prayers.

What a sap anymore

This almost made me cry (gotta love pmsing!) R and I are im-ing (he is home with the girls today)

R: I don't know what time Kendall got up, but was standing in our doorway and said daddy
R: then she asked about you and started to pout
Me: awe.
R: picked her up and put her on ur pillow and turned on Disney channel... she laid there the entire time because she was still there where I got up to get lexi
R: she was like daddy, lexi up...thats my little sister
R: Kendall said "yeah we gettin lexi" ...... "lexi up"
apparently though Lexi is now destroying her crib...throwing things all over the room. Guess she is ready to get up from her nap. Her nickname is Trouble! (got her the shirt from old navy that has that on it...so cute! and so her!)

Anyway....the benefit was alot of fun. It was at a place called The Lagoon in Philly (just past the airport) awesome place. Probably alot of fun at night or during the summer. Its right on the water and has a tiki bar.....that is so cool especially since the weather was beautiful. They collected a truck full of gently used clothing to donate to The City of Philadelphia's 'Project Brotherly Love'. This will help service the approximate 1,000 families arriving from New Orleans to Philadelphia. I am proud to say I was able to donate 3 (tall kitchen garbage) bags of kids clothing and shoes. My parents also had 2 bags full of clothes. Not sure exactly how much they collected yet but it was a good time. The girls had fun running around and looking at the geese in the water and the fish they had in their pond on the deck.

nothing exciting to report lately. K last weekend was playing with a phone. I asked who she was talking to she told me I talkden to my daddy. I said ok. then asked her something else and she said SHHHHHHHHHHHH MOMMY I talkden on the phone! It was so funny. she cracks me up. Then later that night she and R were sharing some kettle corn and he asked for a piece, asking her to feed it to him she said no daddy you big boy I not feed you. amazing the things that come out of her mouth. everyday its something new and more amazing.
L is nuts. She just dives head first into anything....at 16 months. no fear that one. And she is just mischievous. she will look you dead in the eye as she is doing something she knows she shouldn't and laughs at you. or steals something from K and takes off running........laughing the entire time. No need for TV in this house.

Did some much needed weeding and yard work today. My flowerbeds look so much better. got my mums, some small pumpkins, and corn stalks for the front steps. Most decorating I have ever done for Fall/Halloween. Even planted some winter pansies around the mailbox. And the girls even helped....moving around dirt. throwing away dirt....all that good stuff. I just think they like to get dirty.

I do believe I am off to bed soon. We are going to a Hurricane Katrina benefit tomorrow in Philly with the Parrothead Club should be fun. Live music, food and drink...all for a good cause. Hope its as beautiful a day as today was.

~peace out.
